LUMEN is a phenomenal and fairly inexpensive apartment in Belgrade, located in the busy Tsar Dusan Street. Primary sensation of this lodging is the living room, stylized in the manner of the pre-war lounges. Still, this was only the initial inspiration for a masterfully built frame of the double bed. Massive headboard and footboard seem like a symbolic safety barrier for those special moments, when hidden desires escalate and the wild side emerges. The stripy wallpapers are a stark counterpoint to the bed sheet patterns, with mostly ocher and black shapes on a white surface. The ornaments of the round table and accompanying chairs are equally impressive, while a special mention goes to the peculiar lamp mounts. “Frozen dandelion" is just one of the possible associations to the most exquisitely designed chandelier. Finally a massive two-door wardrobe provides a perfectly rounded impression of the living quarters. The dining room is set with kitchen elements and a comfortable sofa, which can be used as a spare single bed. The table is elegant and simple, equipped with chairs and a set of plates. There’s a convenient mounted bar and a series of cabinets installed on two opposite walls. As for the technical apparatus, here you’ll find a refrigerator, flat cooktop, microwave, coffee machine, electric kettle and a toaster. Evidently, the kitchen is more than sufficiently equipped for all kinds of culinary schemes. The bathroom is dressed in neutral gray ceramics, with one side of the shower stall decorated with beautiful arabesques. There’s an overall impression of futuristic cool that lingers in the memory.

Slightly removed from the downtown area, this location offers a variety of local attractions. The neighbouring King Peter Street has plenty of cafes, prestigious restaurants and clubs for a selected clientele, most notably “Lejla” as the meeting place for audiophiles. Further walk up the street takes you to the Strahinjica Bana promenade, the Student Square, Kalemegdan and Knez Mihailova Street. In the opposite direction, towards the lower Dorcol area, the Danube waterfront and the sports center “25^th May” are in a walking distance. So, if you’re looking for the cheapest lodgings in Belgrade, close to the inner city, apartment LUMEN would suit you just fine.
